For those of you who don't know, Dad had an Uncle who lived most of his adult life in Silver Springs, Maryland. His three children (Dad's first cousins) all grew up in Maryland and still live in the area. Mom and Dad haven't seen any of them in many years. One of the reasons we came here is so that we could see them.
This afternoon, Mom and Dad went to Cousin Edward's house. Edward's wife Gale is interested in Genealogy, like Mom and Dad are. Mom and Dad brought two boxes of records for Gale to look at.
They had a nice afternoon getting to know Gale. When Cousin Edward got home, the human's all went out to dinner, including Edward and Gale's children, Eric and Valerie.
Saturday, October 27 - This morning, Mom and Dad had tickets for a tour of the Capital.

After their Capital Tour, they went across the street to the Library of Congress. It's an exceptional building and worth a visit.
When Dad was a little boy, his family came to Maryland to visit his Uncle, Aunt, and Cousins. His parents took them to see many sites in Washington, DC. At some point, someone asked him wanted to be when he grew up. He proudly stated that he wanted to be a fountain. This is the fountain that inspired him. At the time, he had a particular interest in turtles. Fortunately for us, he chose a different career.
After touring the Library of Congress, Mom and Dad went back to the Metro and came back to me. Then, the three of us went to Cousin Edward's house. Edward and Gale made dinner and Cousin Penny and her husband Bob joined us. It was fun to meet all these cousins.
Sunday, October 28 - Today we spent the day at Cousin Penny and Bob's house. Bob made Lasagna. I got to play with Ruby, Penny and Bob's dog. We were also joined by Cousin Liz (Edward and Penny's sister) and Edward and Gale. Finally, the humans remembered to take pictures of all the relatives together.

Monday, October 29 - Mom and Dad went into Washington, DC one more time. First they went to the Old Post Office. It's the building that now houses the Trump International Hotel. The building has a clock tower that is one of the tallest buildings in DC. The National Park Service still has control of the clock tower, it's possible to go up in the tower, and it's free. They enjoyed the nice view.
After the Tower, they went to the National Gallery of Art. They walked in the sculpture garden and then went inside.

Mom and Dad still have a "to do" list of things that they want to see in Washington, DC. They've enjoyed getting reacquainted with cousins that they think it's good to leave a few things to do when we come back to visit cousins again.
Current Location - It's actually November 10 and tonight we are in Marion, North Carolina, about an hour east of Ashville, NC. Mom and Dad have been touring more of the Blue Ridge Parkway and had a visit with friends. I'll tell you more about that in another post.
