In the evening Mom and Dad met our neighbors from the campground at a wine bar that had live music. Our neighbors have been traveling in their RV full time for the last five years. They have decided to make Asheville their new home and are in the process of looking for a house. Mom and Dad enjoyed talking about travel and RVing with them.
Saturday, November 17 - FINALLY, the sun is out!!! I almost thought we'd need to build an ark.
All this rain has created snow and ice on the Blue Ridge Parkway, so most of it is closed. Mom and Dad decided to explore Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Here are some pictures from their day.
Sunday, November 18 - Today we left Asheville and traveled to Gaffney, South Carolina. Tonight we have a spot at the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney. Fortunately, we don't need service and are just using the space to hang out for the night.
Monday, November 19 - The reason we came to Gaffney is so Mom and Dad can tour the Freightliner Factory here. Our motor home was built by Winnebago on a Freightliner diesel truck chassis. The chassis was built right here in Gaffney.
This factory makes custom chassis for different truck like vehicles. They saw a line that was mostly making chassis for school buses, another line that was making chassis for delivery trucks (like brown UPS trucks that I like to bark at), and a 3rd line that makes RV chassis. They enjoyed the tour and seeing how truck chassis are put together.

After our factory tour, we left Gaffney and drove to Columbia, South Carolina. We are staying at Sesquicentennial State Park. Since it's Thanksgiving week, I'll say that one of the things I'm thankful for is spellcheck. Other wise, I wouldn't be able to tell you about Sesquicentennial State Park. 😀
