Columbia, South Carolina to Charleston, South Carolina

Tuesday, November 20 - Today Mom and Dad went into Columbia to explore.  They took a walk along the river and found these cool beehive shaped brick kilns.  They are the remains of a brick factory that was established in Columbia in 1801; however these kilns are newer.  They were built in the 1920's.

When they came back to me, Dad made dinner.  

He made Chicken in a mushroom cream sauce with bow tie pasta and 

sauteed green beans with walnuts and a balsamic reduction.  That's 

for them and it's in back.  I had kibble stew.  Mine is in front.

Wednesday, November 21 - The main reason we stopped in Columbia is because Dad's friend Wilson live's here.  Today Mom and Dad went to visit Wilson.  They told me that he has a really cool house on the river with a big porch and rocking chairs.  They spent most of the afternoon chatting with Wilson on his porch and enjoying the sunshine and the peaceful river.

Later in the afternoon, they went to downtown Columbia with Wilson and he took them for a walking tour around the University of South Carolina.  Wilson is an instructor there.  After their walk, they stopped into a pub and Wilson's wife met them for drinks.  Mom and dad forgot to take a picture of Wilson and Sonya.

Thursday, November 22 - Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We sure did.  This is our campsite at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia.

   

We spent the day at the motor home.  In the afternoon, Dad, Mom and I went for a walk around the lake that is here in the park.  I was a little concerned about this sign, but we were OK.

After our walk, we came back to the motor home.  Mom and Dad had a feast of Roast Turkey Breast and dressing with roasted Brussels Sprouts, hot rolls, and gravy.  I had my usual kibble stew.  😭  I did manage to score a little turkey skin after dinner.  😈

Friday, November 23 - Today we drove from Columbia to Charleston.  We forgot to plan for the holiday weekend and when we started looking for campsites last week, we couldn't find a campground with open campsites for tonight.  So, tonight we are staying at Camp Wal-Mart.  Mom decided to take advantage of the opportunity to do a little Black Friday shopping for new Christmas clothes.

After the shopping trip, they left me at Camp Wal-Mart and drove into Charleston.  They made a visit to the Visitor Information Center and then drove to the Visitor Center for Fort Sumter.  It was too late to get a boat to visit the Fort, but they enjoyed the exhibit on shore.  Maybe another time they will visit the Fort. 

Saturday, November 24 - This morning we left Camp Wal-Mart and moved to the James Island County Park for the remainder of our stay in Charleston.  Dad needed a little help, so I offered to back us into the campsite.  I don't like using the mirrors.  I prefer to just stick my head out the window to see what's behind me.

After we got settled in, Mom and Dad decided to check out Charleston.  They did a walking tour.

Mom and Dad have three travel tips from today.  #1 - They highly recommend James Island County Park if you need a place to park an RV.  #2 - Parking in Charleston is expensive.  If you don't mind a little walking and want to save money, park on the seawall side of the street on Murray Boulevard.  It's near the Battery, a short and scenic walk into town, and it's free!  #3 - Check out a walking tour app.  They enjoyed their tour.

Current Location - We currently in Tallahassee, Florida.  Next time I'll tell you about our last three nights in Charleston and later tell you about our adventures since then.
